Frequently Asked Questions
Why The Kirk?
Kirk is the old Scottish word for church. In this special neighborhood ‘the Tribute’, is named as a tribute to old Scottish golf resorts. The beautiful grasses, stone-work, clubhouse, and links coarse are all modeled on Scotland.
Who is the Kirk for?
The Kirk was intentionally established to meet a felt need in the Tribute Community of North Dallas. We meet in the Tribute, for the Tribute – but anyone is always welcome. This unique community has no formal church, and so we have started a non-denominational independent church to be a broad faith community for any follower of Jesus, or for those simply exploring faith.
When and where do you meet?
We meet in small groups all around the community. Once per month, we gather these groups together on the 1st Thursday of the month.
Please join us at one of our next listed events, or contact us for more information about our various groups.
Who leads and oversees this church?
Robert & Deana Custer and Jon & Sandra Burns, have committed to lead this new church initially. We have established a legal non-profit organization and registered it with both the Texas SOS and the IRS. Although we are deliberately not affiliated with any specific denomination, we will have an advisory group of senior leaders from trusted churches in the area, that support our work and keep us accountable.
Where does any donated money go to?
People are invited to give through the Church. We are fully transparent and independently audit our accounts annually. We are striving to give away 50% of all our income to other non-profits we support or people in need. The remaining money will cover events, materials, and expenses, or other necessary costs.
